Saltash.net students from Years 7, 8 and 9, as well as our friends from Landulph Primary School, recently showed fantastic grit and determination whilst competing on the saltash.net Cross Country course.
The Cross Country competition which took place on the morning of the 17th October, saw students compete in the first event of a multi-sport year-long inter-tutor tournament, representing their designated countries.
All podium finishers were presented with a trophy in a post-run presentation. Special mention should be made of Maisie Godfrey and Henry Curtis who won their races with record breaking times of 9.32 and 9.05 respectively. Both students rounded off a fantastic trio of wins, having both claimed the Year 7 and 8 competitions in the previous two years. Definitely two to watch out for, are the Olympics in sight?
Speaking at the end of the competition, Head of PE, Mr Hawkins, was delighted with the efforts of each year group.
“Another year and another excellent Cross Country event at saltash.net. Turnout for the races was fantastic, and the competition could not have been such a success without the great help of saltash.net’s Year 10 Sports Leaders, who marshalled the course exceptionally well. A number of students showed fantastic resilience to finish the course, supported and encouraged by their peers. Well done to all who ran!”
