Thanks to the wonderful efforts of students and staff, the Sixth Form Head Student team at saltash.net was able to raise a wonderful £140 for the Love in a Box initiative. Students ran a cake sale in the Sixth Form Study Room and have donated the proceeds to the Mustard Seed Relief Mission. The money will be used to pay for the costs of transporting the boxes, which contain toys, books, items of clothing and much more, and are sent to under-privileged children throughout Eastern Europe who may otherwise not receive a Christmas present.
The students had run whole school assemblies during early October, titling their presentation “Box it Clever, Fight the Blight” to raise awareness about the charity and their work.
The team were delighted with the response from the school community.
“We understood that many would not be able to contribute an entire box towards the charity, so we decided that the cake sale was a way in which people could contribute indirectly towards Love in a Box, and it didn’t disappoint!
“Our aim was to help people whose time this Christmas won’t be as lucky as ours, and we used Love in a Box as a way to help people have an enjoyable Christmas. A particular thanks to Ms Childs and the whole Sixth Form team for their support when we were planning this cake sale, and a thank you to all the students and staff who contributed cakes,” they said.
