Post 16 Evening

We were really pleased to welcome a number of local employers, College providers and Higher education establishments to our school to take part in our annual post-16 and 18 careers evening in February.

Major employers, including the Royal Navy, Army, Plymouth University, Devon and Cornwall police, Barratts homes, Penninsula medical school and Babcock, plus many more were present to help students make up their mind about what career or route they would like to take and what  they would like to pursue after finishing their GCSE’s or A levels with us at Saltash.

The event continues to grow every year and was very well attended by our students, the businesses in attendance offered guidance on the opportunities that students can take advantage of in post-16 and 18 study.

The event was a total success with a range of our pupils attending from different year groups to find out about a whole host of different Career options and pathways that they can take. We were thrilled that so many organisations attended, a number of them bringing previous pupils from Saltash Community School, who are now doing all sorts of different apprenticeships and courses and have clearly done very well for themselves. We believe, as a school, in the importance of giving pupils all opportunities and guiding them to making the decisions that are most suitable for them, we hope that all who attended found the evening informative and inspiring. We are always overwhelmed with the amount of providers that attend our event, without them the event would not be possible.

Further careers advice can be given by the school’s careers advisor, Jenny Wall, who is available for in-school sessions for students as well as from Emma Gue who is Careers lead at Saltash.
