Admissions FAQs
I have heard it is different at Cornwall College, why is this?
A new management team (3 are Ofsted Inspectors) has implemented many changes to significantly enhance the learner experience. Once we are open, come and see for yourself.
Can I still apply to study at College in September?
Yes. We are still accepting applications for a September 2020 start, and will continue to do so until September 2020. You can apply online for individual courses through our website. Our Admissions Team will then process your application and advise you on your next steps. We look forward to welcoming you to our College in September.
How can I access support/advice and guidance about my application?
Our Customer Services Team is available via email on enquiries@cornwall.ac.uk. Please get in contact if you have any questions about starting with us in September 2020. You can also request a call back from one of the team if you would like to discuss your query over the phone; please just email us with your contact details and an outline of your query.
What is the application process for students aged 16-18?
We will continue to process any applications that have been received via our online application system by remote working. Usually we meet all applying learners for an individual interview. Since Public Health England’s advice is to limit travel and social contact as much as possible, we are now offering students an unconditional place to study with us, once a full application form has been received. If we require further information, we will contact you.
We will take the opportunity later this year to discuss your course offer face-to-face, once this is possible, to ensure that you have picked the right programme for you, and your ambitions, before term starts next year. If you have any queries about the application process, please contact our Customer Services Team on 0330 123 2523 or email to enquiries@cornwall.ac.uk.
I haven’t had my college interview yet. What happens next?
All students that had a booked interview will be notified about the cancellation of our college events and be given an unconditional offer.
All new applicants will receive an unconditional offer, once we have all the relevant information. If we require further information, we will contact you.
We will take the opportunity later this year to discuss your offer face-to-face, once this is possible, to ensure that you have picked the right programme for you, and your ambitions, before term starts next year. If you have any queries about the application process please contact our Customer Services Team on 0330 123 2523 or email to enquiries@cornwall.ac.uk.
What happens if I am unable to sit my GCSE exams?
The Government have said that GCSE exams will not take place as initially planned. We will be keeping up-to-date with their latest guidance and will inform you as we get more information. We can guarantee that there will be a course for within your chosen career pathway.
Can I come in for an individual visit/tour?
At present, our Colleges are closed, so we cannot offer tours. We are hoping to offer tours and advice and guidance appointments later in the year, when we reopen. Please keep an eye on our website for further updates.
What’s happening with upcoming events?
Due to the College closure, all upcoming events for this academic year have been cancelled. Please keep an eye on our website for further updates or new event dates. You can register your interest in upcoming events at www.cornwall.ac.uk/careers-events and we will send you details when new events are scheduled.
Will there still be support available from the College in schools?
At present, all schools engagement has been cancelled until further notice. We look forward to visiting our school partners at the earliest opportunity. Our Customer Service Team is still available via email to support school students, staff and parents with any queries on 0330 123 2523 or email to enquiries@cornwall.ac.uk.
