Despite having a full Section 5 Ofsted Inspection during the week of 17th March, saltash.net community school honoured its commitment to Sport Relief on Friday 21st March, raising almost £2000 in the process!

Inspectors spent two days at the school on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th March and, after bidding them farewell, staff and students turned their attention to a whole host of fundraising activities on the Friday.  A non-uniform day, ‘spare change’ challenge, cake sale, lunchtime nail bar, face painting and real live music club, all helped to contribute to the excellent total raised, before the highlight of the day – the sponsored musical mile which took place after school.

Of course, being saltash.net it was not just students and staff taking part in the musical mile; head of Year 7, Mr Rowe, brought along his dog, Teek, as well as his new baby, Thomas, to join in the proceedings!

Headteacher, Mrs Bryce, praised the school community for the team spirit demonstrated throughout the week: ‘Whole school inspections are always a bit stressful so it was great to be able to unwind on the Friday and enjoy a fantastic range of fundraising events.  Personally, I’d like to thank Lucy Kevern in Year 9 for doing my nails so beautifully at lunchtime!  I’d also like to thank PE teacher, Ali Hancock, my PA, Jude Hollyman, English teacher, Suzie Allen, support staff member, Sarah Moss, ICT technician, Kellie Alders, and the rest of the ICT technical team for their contribution to the overall coordination.  Finally I would like to thank staff members Lisa Watson and Donna Lawson from ‘GLOW’ in Fore Street, Saltash, for adding glitz and glamour to our nail bar – it certainly was a true community event.’
