After a turbulent end to their final year at Saltash Community School, it was lovely to celebrate with so many Year 13 students this morning, as they received their A level and other level 3 results. We are especially delighted for Rebecca (pictured below), who has secured her place at the University of Oxford to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics; and Abi, who earlier in the year achieved the accolade of ‘most employable young person in Plymouth’ through the ‘You’re Hired’ initiative, who has been headhunted for an apprenticeship at Roger Young.

Headteacher, Kate Littledyke, said, “Although it wasn’t the usual celebration event, we were thrilled to see some of our students back on site for the first time since March. Our Sixth Form team were on hand to offer advice and guidance, both in person and remotely, to support students’ next steps.” One Sixth Form student thanked the school for the effort it went to to put on a results day, commenting, “Not many of the other schools had this and it was really nice for closure and advice.”

In other successes, we’d like to congratulate Max who has achieved a gold Crest award for his participation in the Inspire2Involve project, further to which he represented our school at a conference of professionals in Exeter.

Emma Childs, Head of Sixth Form, said, “Despite the many challenges this academic year, we have been really impressed with our students’ tenacity. We’re very proud of everything they have achieved throughout their time at Saltash and wish them all the very best as they begin their next chapter.”
